”Walk in the footsteps of Linnaeus”
- Step back in time in Linnaeus' Råshult
In Råshult, just north of Älmhult, you’ll find peace and quiet, beautiful surroundings and a sense of deep calm. Discover an authentic historic landscape from the eighteenth century. It was here that the famous scientist Carl Linnaeus was born three hundred years ago, and this was where his great interest in plants and nature was awakened.
Today Linnaeus’ Råshult is a unique protected area. The land, meadows and fields are managed with the same methods as in the eighteenth century. Walk through this beautiful historic landscape and you’ll find flowering meadows and flora and fauna that are unusual today. There are several gardens to discover – the pleasure garden, the herb garden, the cabbage garden, the hops garden and the damson grove. And the youngest visitors have a garden of their own – Carl’s Garden.
